If this is the case, I find it easier to overwrite the data in DiveLog with data from MacDive. Assuming you’ve followed the steps above, all the latest data will be in MacDive. This will serve as the “master” source for your log book.

Make any changes/additions to logs in MacDive.

Importing XML does not trigger business rules or update the instance cache. After you have successfully exported data from the source instance, you can import the XML file directly to the target instance.

The synchronization processes will merge the dives based on the timestamp so it is important to do this before importing from DiveLog. That file can then be imported into standard diving log software such as Macdive or Subsurface to complete your diving log. To merge data you’ve recorded on your phone with the data on your Mac, set the date and time of each dive on the iPhone (DiveLog) to match data from the computer (MacDive).Import new dives from dive computer to MacDive (recommended: “Only New Dives”) (File -> Download Dives) The dives recorded by your Dive Computer with depth and other info will now be in MacDive.

I’ve found this system works pretty well but keeping everything in sync can be a bit tricky. You must still choose the file so that MacOS knows that you are giving Dive Log Manager/DiveLogDT permission to read it. Some formats will be in a “known” place and so the File Choosing menu will take you to that place directly. For all supported Import formats, click the “File” button in the upper left of the panel to select the file or database to import.
